People have a love/hate relationship with Vegas. Yes it can be sleazy and overkill, too many smokey casinos and too crazy but after going there many times I have found the way I like to do Vegas and it has become one of my favorite quick getaways with my husband. If traveling from LA/SF/OC and Phoenix Jetsuitex does daily flights and makes getting in and out so much easier.
The hotels in Vegas are yes over the top and some are a little cheesy but below are my favorite ones and the best thing about them is they are usually a lot cheaper than what you expect in NY, LA or Miami.
The Nomad will make you feel like you just stepped into a European hotel. I love their signature dark green color throughout the hotel. They have a great pool scene and the bar is one of my favorites.
If you want to be away from the casino smoke and have a nice chill pool experience The Wardorf is great. The room design is soothing and the rooftop is a great place to be for early evening drinks before a night out.
The Palms has just been through a huge remodel. I am hugely impressed with the creative director for the hotel Tal Cooperman. The curation of the different restaurants and art is amazing. The signature suites are epic and the pool/nightclub scene is the best! A lot of amazing DJs are in residence there!
Depending on the time of day and the crowd you are with depends on the restaurant.
I like to start my day with Yoga or a swim in the pool and then head to breakfast. If you want to stay close to the strip Bouchon at the Venetian is a good choice or Eggslut at the Cosmopolitan are both fantastic and will cure any hangover.
My favorite lunch spot has to be Sadelles designed by Ken fulk it is upbeat and I think make the best gin and tonic’s you feel like you are at the Ivy in London.
My other fav lunch hands down is Estiatorio-Milos The lunch menu is much better and the patio is gorgeous to sit out on. I don’t know what is in their Santorini fava puree dessert but it is something to not miss.
Green Street Kitchen at the Palms is good for lunch or casual dinner. I love the Banksy art and the vibe is cool.
The list is never ending and depending on how far you want to venture you can really have so many different experiences.
My fav on the strip
Scotch 80 Prime at the Palms this is where you dress up and get ready for decadence with a sexy sophisticated crowd.
Shark bar I do get drawn to this place because of the very cool Damien Hirst shark installation but also the vibe is very upbeat cool. You can’t really go wrong anywhere at the palms!
The Nomad Restaurant Yes the signature black truffle-laced Roast Chicken is top notch but I also love the uber sexy and luxurious library feel. This is great for a special night for two or a fun place to go pre theatre with friends.
Bazaar by Jose Andres If you are a meat lover then this is the place for you. I love the way they present the food in unique ways too. His other newer restaurant e’ by Jose Andres is tiny but for the food lover this is a great experience.
Some other favorites
The downtown of Vegas has some amazing restaurants and is nice to hang with the locals.
Restaurants I love
Hatsumi - both by same owners and both fabulous
PRE DINNER / POST DINNER COCKTAILS
The bar at the Nomad was nominated best cocktail program in America. My favorite is the Hot Lips - Smokey and spicy margarita with a touch of chili.
The sexy Mr Coco bar at the Palms
Beauty and Essex - Just like the NY well known bar this does not disappoint
Ghost Donkey - My favorite speakeasy on the strip and great cocktails
The tiny Laundry Bar off the strip - If you want a intimate cocktail in a cool hipster setting go find the secret bar The Commonwealth rooftop bar upstairs is always great after dinner and fun local scene The commonwealth
So many shows that are ever changing to list but a great long standing performance that I always have a good laugh at is Absinthe - Don’t go with an ego and be ready for profanity and jaw dropping performances.
For up to date events the Vegas guide is great
